Green, bright, fresh, and beautiful flowerinng Zinnias plants drew me to gardening a couple of years ago. I wanted their diverse shapes, colours and scents. I feel to like all of then in my plant beds, and their blossoms. But how could I nurture seedlings, only to whack off their stems just as they came into bloom for vases? Compounding my dilemma was my small garden—a dozen tall zinnias.
Way back good old day Zinnia flowering plants filled my little garden (I was six years old when I first get inlove with gardenning), Zinnias is very easy to nurture and grows and are recommended for beginning gardeners.
I recommend Zinnias for beginner in gardenning because ulike other flowering plats, Zinnia are undemanding this plants simply need full sun, warmth, water and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. If soil is poor Zinnias still grows, however you need to incorporate lots of compost or leaf mold. Zinnias can also be direct sown or transplanted into the garden from seedling beds.
As I said eirlier back on my childhood day, the first lesson I learned was that it doesn’t take much room to grow Zinnia flowering plants, as long as you choose the right place to grow it and organize spaces between plants. They provide more than enough bouquets of flowers, but a paradized and a peace of mind every time you look attheir beautiful flowers. Also, I learned and realizing that a cutting garden doesn’t need to look utilitarian and plain, or chaotic and messy. A well-designed plot is a beautiful addition to the landscape, making your house and best home to live with.
ZINNIA GROWING TIPS
To have a beautiful bushier-shaped of your zinnia plants, you have to pinch off an inch or so from the tips of the main stems while plants are still young. And regularly remove old flowers to keep plants attractive and encourage more blooms.
If taller zinnia varieties begin to flop, to make it more beautifull stake the plants (Zinnnia) with y-shaped branches or metal hoop staking around the plants.
Furthermore, a application of a 5-10-5 fertilizer in mid season will help to keep zinnia plants growing strongly, produce more flowers to bloom.
Zinnias History
Zinnias are named after Johann Gottfried Zinn (1727-1759), a German professor of botany who grew the plant after it was "discovered" in the New World and brought back to Europe. Zinnias are native to Mexico, Central America, and the southwestern United States.
