Nikon have recently introduce and creating new point and shoot standard with its new line-up of point and shoot camera. This camera from Nikkon is aimed at professional photographers who want a compact shooter. Introducing, Nikkon Coolpix A, a world first APS-C sensor compact camera. Comes in two different and elegant color, Black & Silver.
Performances
The Nikon Coolpix A compact camera comes with 3-inch fixed 921,600 dots TFT LCD, 16 Megapixel CMOS 14-bit, APS-C sensor with ISO 100-6400/25600 (exp), 28mm, f2.8 lens, 4 frame per second burst shooting, at 30 – 1/2000 sec shutter speed, and up to 1080p video recording.
Nikon Coolpix A compact camera CMOS sensor is same with one that performed so spectacularly well in cameras such as the D7000. The sensor's microlenses have been designed to work with the camera's wide-angle lens. This features is resulting to reduce capture images corner shading, despite the wide-angle lens mounting fairly close to the sensor. It doesn't gain the on-sensor phase detection elements that have started appearing on some of its contemporaries. However, Nikkon Coolpix A digital camera are following lead of the Pentax K-5 IIs and Nikon's own D7100 in doing away with the optical low-pass filter. We can only assume that Nikon's engineers have concluded that attempting to process out any additional moire was the lesser evil, compared with the sharpness usually sapped by the filter.
Verdict
What Nikon has done here is they took a point-and-shoot body then equipped it with a DX-format CMOS sensor which are found in some of Nikon’s own DSLRs. So what you’re expected to get from the Coolpix A are rendering capabilities that Nikon claims to be comparable to those of DSLRs plus the advantages of having a compact body.
